kageotogi: (as you wish [skybound2])
[livejournal.com profile] skybound2 posted this meme and made the above icon for me as a result. And, well, I'm not one to turn down a meme, so here goes. (Please note, however, that I won't be able to actually make the icons until I'm back in Baltimore and have free time. The latter might be the more unattainable of the two.)

1) Comment and I'll pick one of your LJ interests and make you an icon.
2) You have absolutely no say in what I make. Hints do not help you.
3) I pick between having a normal icon or an animated icon.
4) If you do partake in this meme, please put this in your LJ so I can do the same to you. This isn't required, but it would certainly be appreciated!

All right, lovelies. Get commenting.

The power at my 'rent's house has been going crazy today, and I technically shouldn't be risking the internet right now. Meh. No harm no foul.

Icon meme.

Comment here and I will reply to you and tell you what icon of yours I associate with you. Once I reply, please repost this in your own journal, because I want to know what icon you associate with me!

New icon!

I think this *points* is my favourite icon so far. ^__^ I took the shot from one of the remixes (it should be fairly easy to guess which one), cropped it, cleaned it, and coloured it (all of it, with the exception of the tiiiny white square that's supposed to be printer paper). It took me about three hours. Three hours I should have spent doing my actual work-work. Or writing.

Why yes, my priorities are in order. Why do you ask?

I coloured two other icons today, bringing my total of coloured icons up to six. ^_^ I'm horribly ashamed of the first one I did, but the other five are under the cut.

The progression of my icon-colouring skills. )

I'm way too proud of myself for this to be good for me. ^^

In other news, my mother and I went to see the movie Step Up today. It was predictable, but it was pretty good. I very much enjoyed the routine at the end, and I liked how they at least tried to give the characters depth. I'm sure it wasn't easy. Either way, on the way to the theatre, my mother and I were discussing the results of the recent election, and she was very glad to see one former officer leave. Here's why:

Her: I just don't like him.
Me: Well, why not?
Her: Because.
Me: Because why?
Her: I don't like what he says.

Her: He'd be okay if he was a mute.
Me: *trying not to laugh* What?
Her: He would! I mean, he doesn't need his voice to sign checks, does he?

I love my mom. Her politics are (for the most part) the best thing ever.

edit: Because I didn't feel like going to bed, I posted an update to icon mosaic. Check it out -- it's a great community, and while my icons may not be the best, Joan and Lauren certainly pop out a good bit of quality stuff.

Men See You As Choosy

Men notice you light years before you notice them
You take a selective approach to dating, and you can afford to be picky
You aren't looking for a quick flirt - but a memorable encounter
It may take men a while to ask you out, but it's worth the wait

Hm. I guess that sounds about right. ^^ I'm picky, but I don't know if I can afford to be. *coff* I'm not exactly prime choice.

Riiiight. What was I saying? Um. Hm.

Writing front! Things have been slow. I've been working through the drabble and the five things memes, but it's slow. I'm getting there, though, so just be patient. I'm hoping to have a a few of at least one of those up by the end of the week.

The job hunt is still on. And slow. ^.^ But that's all right. I'm not desperate for cash, and so far I'm managing.

This is my second day without chocolate. It's actually a great deal easier than I thought it would be, although I'm sure it'll start to be hard again in a week or two, when the Red Death hits. Right now I'm trying to use tea as a substitute -- it seems to be working.

I'm all out of icon space, sadly. ^.^ I have 134/134, and that's a shame, as I actually feel like doing some iconning. This is influenced, I think, by my having learned how to colour icons. >D That's right. Thanks to a tutorial [livejournal.com profile] pereppi found me, I have become an icon colouring machine. (Never mind that I've only done it once. *coff*) It's fun, in that pain-in-the-butt kind of way.

I made a new icon. I cried a little when I ended up using "ain't," but my respective loves for Hohenheim and for James Bond won out. Thus... Well, grammar can be sacrificed for the sake of true love. *sigh* I guess.

My toe is bleeding. ^_^ I bet you all wanted to know that.

New icon. I don't know if I'll ever use it, but I like the curve of the woman's thumb. *heart*

Icon dump!

kageotogi: (reno hot [hawn_style])
Hey, all. I just posted a huge icon dump to [livejournal.com profile] icon_mosaic (which is a kickass community, by the way! *heart*). Feel free to check it out. ^_~

Other than that, I really have nothing else to say. Um. Three cheers for Braska, Cereal, and Eiri, for all getting to discuss and/or have sex (in rp) today! Hurrah!

Oh, and Ouran Koukou Host Club is the love. Love in it like whoa, yo.
kageotogi: (kiss! [kageotogi])
So... I gave in. At last. And I posted the first chapter to my latest example of Gravitation drivel. That's right, I finally posted Dizzy.

"Dizzy" takes place about one year (and twenty-seven fanfics) after "Spin". "Spin", for those who don't already know, was a Tatsuha-centric story in which Tatsuha pulls a few strings in order to spend the summer in Tokyo with his brother and Shuichi. While he's there he happens to (almost literally) run into Sakuma Ryuichi, who is obviously the man of his dreams, and... Well, stuff happens. Tatsuha has his ups and his downs, and then, in the end... Well, you'll find out if you read it. It's Tatsuha/Ryuichi, for the most part.

I finished "Spin" back in June of 2004. I wrote my first draft of "Dizzy" this past summer, while I was traveling the West Coast with my family, and finally got around to typing it up about a week ago. It's an eight part story (or so), and the first draft is completed. I'm in the process of typing up the sixth chapter, and I'm re-drafting as I write. [livejournal.com profile] imayb1 was wonderful enough to beta this first part for me and even assured me that it wasn't quite as craptastic a beginning as I thought it was. Thanks a million for that, Aja! (Aja deserves cookies for taking on this monster. Give her cookies!)

Anyway. I gave in and posted the first chapter about... ten minutes ago, so I thought I'd put up a note here so those few of you who are actually interested can give it a look. Here's the link again, for those of you who weren't paying attention the first time around. ^_~

Dizzy : Chapter One

Oh, and before I forget: a new icon. It's Road to El Dorado, of course, and I love it just for the little heart. I adore that little heart. Don't you? (Adore the heart. Do iiiit.)

The following icon goes along with my Not Shakespeare icon... and is based on a quiz Doctor Smith actually gave the class.

kageotogi: (geisha [kageotogi])
So. Assuming that the ice caps don't melt, the ozone layer doesn't leave, and I don't blow myself up, I'm definitely going to finish my Shakespeare essay today. This is a good thing, you see, because it was due yesterday (haha). Lucky for me, the professor grants everyone one-class-day extension for one paper during the course of the semester. Since this is our last paper, I figured I would take that extension now. (And by the looks of the stack of papers Doctor Smith received yesterday, so did all but three people.) The good news is that I have a thesis (sort of) and an outline, so I just need to (re)read the plays and get some actual support behind my position. Which is pretty standard and stupid. But easy to fix. I hope. The bad news is that everything I have -- my thesis, my outline, and my introduction -- are all shit. Oh well.

Yup. Definitely know what I'll be doing tonight. >.<

Oh. And because I can... I made this icon earlier today, once I got out of the shower and started talking via live journal to [livejournal.com profile] tir_synni:

You know you think it's sexy. It goes in the ranks up there with the book burning icon and the killer roommate icon I made for [livejournal.com profile] pereppi once upon a time.

Righto. So. Yes. I don't feel like writing my paper and Aristeia is fun to write but impossible to work on during class, since I've started doing it all on the computer now. Since I have nothing else to do in class (besides, you know, pay attention), I pose the next question.

If you could have me write any one thing for you, no matter the pairing, the genre, or the theme, what would it be?

Comment to this post with a plot, character(s), theme, scene, idea, genre, or thing for a drabble or short-story and I will write it in... a semi-reasonable amount of time. First come first serve; I will only take five requests or suggestions... unless I really like where they're all going, in which case I'll be nice and do more.

Ah. And I have to Justine's article thingamajig. I'll do that later.
kageotogi: (father and son [kageotogi])
First off, here's the Banned Book Icon I made from the Sigma Tau Delta signs, because Lauren and a few other people thought it would be a neat idea. I don't really like how it turned out, but whatever.

In my artsy-fartsy phase, I also made a Gravi-related desktop. Feel free to use it, although I don't know how decent it is. It's only the second or third desktop I've made, so whatever. I can resize it if anyone would like me to do so. Please comment if you decide to snitch it.

Desktop -- 1024x768

In other news, today was the Stephen King book reading. I read from "Quitters, Inc." and everyone who heard it told me I did a good job. Joan picked the story for me and it's great; I'm all for the psychological thrillers, and "Quitters, Inc." was just that. Loved it. ^__^ [livejournal.com profile] slyfox78 read "Boogeyman", which I thought was fantastic, and Oak read "The Man Who Loved Flowers", which was bizarre.

Speaking of bizarre, Oak brought over Kung Fu Hustle, which we're currently watching. It's... definitely bizarre. Oh yes. The music is delightful. The movie itself is whacked.

Mrr. I finished writing and editing the Hohenheim!fic I promised [livejournal.com profile] tir_synni, and I will post it probably tomorrow-ish. Or today-ish. It's getting to be about that time. (Hee. Time. It's Daylight Savings -- fall back spring forward!)
kageotogi: (gravi smex [ryuichi_beam])
Look at my icons and tell me:

1. One that makes you automatically think of me.
2. One that you think I should use a LOT more often.
3. One that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why I have it.
4. One that you think I should have and cannot imagine why I don't.
5. Comment using an icon of yours that you LOVE, and tell me why you picked THAT one, too.

Yes. The end.

No, not really.

I'm trying to make a new journal background/desktop and I'm having problems with the outlining. Stupid pictures and their stupid goodness with the lighting. *shakes fist*

Okay, now it's the end.

Hope you like it.

[livejournal.com profile] tir_synni, this is the icon I promised. It's not quite sultry!Hohenheim, but it contains excerpts from the story, so... Yes. Icon. *le humble bow* Please enjoy it.

kageotogi: (evil fish! [wolfhearted])
[livejournal.com profile] slyfox78 is currently obsessed with Dynasty Warriors IV. I'm not at all surprised, really.

Mrr. Classes start tomorrow (blah) and my internet still isn't up -- I'll have to take it in to the Lane Center sometime this week in order to be checked out. I'd also like to clarify something. I don't hate the internet on campus. I really don't. I also don't hate the computer services on campus. It irritates me, yes, that I have restricted access to everything from email to Gaim to music for such a long time (several weeks last semester and at least a week this one) simply because my virus software is "too new" to be supported by the campus (which, as best as I can understand, is actually the problem). The computer services people have a lot to do, however, and they can't work miracles; I'm not the only one having problems with my internet and I can't expect them to fix it just because I snap my fingers and point.

That would be really cool, though.

I know this, logically, and I try not to begrudge the school or the computer people for it, but sometimes it is really hard. >.< I'm so unbelievably spoiled like you wouldn't believe. Or maybe you would. Honestly, I don't know.

Joan made curry last night. It was the awesome. Then I practically passed out on Jesse, which is okay because he's comfortable. Once Joan, Oak, and I did end up going to bed (about one o'clock, I guess), I was so very stupid. I think we had a conversation about how Oak couldn't sleep on the carpet because he'd wrinkle it and then about wrinkles being contagious... Anyway, it was cracked.

My neck hurts. Grr.

Ah, well. That said and done, I made icons! I don't like all of them, but they were made and thusly they're going up. I heart on Joan. The first icon is from Fullmetal Alchemist (as I'm sure those familiar with the series can figure out). The second is a picture of the Earl from Eroica. Next up is a picture from Yellow (which I highly recommend; Joan and I both enjoyed it very much and I think I like it a great deal better than Desire and Fake and maybe even a little better than Gravitation). Then there's a picture from Saiyuki.

And this one was made by request for [livejournal.com profile] slyfox78 and the picture is from Kimi Wa Petto [a.k.a. Tramps Like Us]:

Take any of them if you want them, but make sure to give credit where it's due. I'll be using one or two of them myself. *shrug*
kageotogi: (domacatrix [kageotogi])
I had a s'more for dinner. ^_________^

I'm at work -- shocker of shocks, I know -- but it's my last night, so I'm happy. ^___^ Once the time hits nine-thirty, I can pull the gate, count the drawers, vacuum (blaaah. It needs to be done though. Because of the s'mores.), and go HOME! And, oddly enough, it's been an interesting night. For that matter, it's been a rather interesting day. And I mean 'interesting' in that 'hm, I wonder if they'll read this if I say it's interesting?' kind of way.

Here's why. )

Other than that, it's been pretty slow tonight. I had a Korean translator and his translatee (mmm. Or something) come in looking for handwriting and spelling book. We are, unfortunately, out of those at this time, but he asked to order one. He also forgot the Korean word for 'week', so we looked around in our foreign language section for a dictionary, failed to find one, and he went with 'seven days' instead. He was cool.

Um. S'more. Yum. ^_^

I made the sign for the Otakon Saturday Luncheon! You'll see it. Trust me. It's neon pink (because that's the only type of paper we had at the time) and it says Joan and Ren's 'Uno's' Party Meets HERE!. One of the book group kids drew a fish on it for me while I was eating my s'more. I like the wee children better than the bratty fifth graders who come in on Monday nights. ^___^

I made a new icon. It seems to fit not only my today, but lots of other people's todays, too. Feel free to take it, just make sure to give credit.

Um. Coke.

So... I made this icon this afternoon. *points to the icon* And every time I look at it, I have to start singing "You put the lime in the coconut..." and I think Joan is going to kill me if I do it one more time. ^^;;;

Anyway. Good times.

Pssssst. Kyle?

I lied. *ebil* ^____^

Okay, I made this icon because I saw the joke in this cartoon and it made me snerk. I am in no way trying to be mean to Texas, the people who live there, or their choice of flags. I just thought it was funny. That being said, I made the following icon about ten minutes ago:
