How this works: You comment, I give you an age and you fill out the meme questions with what applied to you back then, and now.

[personal profile] lawless523 gave me 18.

Age: 18

I lived in: My college dormitory. The freshmen dorm, actually, in a room I shared with a roommate with whom I did not get along at all. I spent most of my time over in [profile] domacatrix's room and only went back to mine to sleep and switch out my textbooks.

I drove: When I was at my parents' house, I drove... I don't remember what year it was, but a Toyota Camry. It was a frustrating car because (1) the radio didn't work and (2) occasionally a wire or something would come loose from the battery and I wouldn't be able to start the car without a jump. It was really annoying.

I was in a relationship with: No one. My high school boyfriend and I broke up early that fall, while I was still 17. I was not exactly devastated (I don't connect well with people emotionally, at least not at a romantic level. This is why I am perpetually single).

I feared: What other people had to say about me. I was extremely self-conscious. I wanted everyone to like me and I hated that maybe they wouldn't. I got over it. Now I don't care what people think of me because, y'know, I'm not trying to make anybody else like me at the expense of my own happiness.

I worked at: I think... the children's bookstore? That was probably still just a seasonal job, then, though; I don't think I'd started on their website stuff yet. I got a job on campus as a writing tutor in the fall semester, too.

I wanted to be: Probably a writer. And probably famous. There was a while where I was convinced I could become both, and maybe teach at a university on the side. Because, y'know, the money wouldn't matter at all because I'd be famous.

Age: 27

I live in: "Half a house", as [personal profile] lawless523 would put it, but actually an end-unit row-home in Baltimore City.

I drive: A 2001 Toyota Avalon.

I am in a relationship with: No one. Reference above my inability to emotionally connect with people.

I fear: Snakes. Those things are terrifying, man. Also that Gus-cat might have another seizure (we're in the process of weaning him off his epilepsy medication, which is very exciting but very slow) and have to go back on his full dosage. Also that my house won't sell, when I do finally put it back on the market. Whenever that might be.

I work at: A medical publisher.

I want to be: You know what? I'd still like to be a writer. I can live without being famous, and definitely have no interest in teaching anymore. But the writing bit is still true.
kageotogi: (brotherly love)
[personal profile] lawless523 posted this and, well, someone (*coff[profile] masteroftroublecoff*) keeps kvetching about how I never update my journal even though I say I will, so here. I did a meme.

I've done it before, and I'm sure y'all know the rules. Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post the list with your answers to your Journal. By commenting, others can get lists from you, and so we keep the meme running.

The seven question meme. Read at your own risk, because apparently I made every answer into a novel. )

I just used Pandora because, well, I cleared out most of my music the last time I was doing a hard drive sweep. So, there we are.

Put your media player of choice on shuffle.

The first song is the overall theme for the Apocalypse.
Billy Joel - It's Still Rock & Roll to Me

The second song if the one that plays during your first Zombie kill.
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

The third song plays while you're getting chased by a Horde.
Osvaldo Pugliese - Chique

The fourth song plays when you're forced to kill your loved one.
Far East Movement - Like a G6

The fifth song plays when you find your new love interest.
Florindo Sassone - Don Juan

The sixth song plays when you make your final stand.
Sexteto Mayor - Libertango

The seventh song plays when you (think you) make it through it all.
The Script - For the First Time

The eighth song plays when you discover a bite mark on you.
John Farnham - We Will Rock You

...my zombie track list apparently involves a lot of tango music. Fun fact!
kageotogi: (clean all the things)
...stolen from [livejournal.com profile] iamnotvoldemort and [livejournal.com profile] masteroftrouble. BECAUSE I CAN.

1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up.
My television, a not-very-good book, several pillows, my cell phone, the front door.

2. How do you style your hair?
I normally have it in a ponytail. I wore it down today, just for funsies, but normally my hair annoys me and so I just keep it back.

3. What are you wearing now?
Yoga pants and a tank top.

4. What's your occupation?
Product Manager. Basically, it's a book editor who Does Everything.

5. What do you hear right now?
The television is on and tuned to the Discover Channel, for some reason. So something about sexy monkeys? I don't even know.

6. Who was the last person you hugged?
No one you know~

7. What is/was for dinner?
I had mozzarella sticks and a beer. Yum!

8. What did you do today?
I mowed the lawn, cleaned the house, read a book, admired the rain, and then went on a date.

9. Dog person or cat person?
I like both, but I'm more of a cat person.

10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
I quite like my name... Under what circumstances would I have to change it, exactly? I mean, if I adopted a new identity to escape from the watchful eyes of the feds or went the other direction and joined the Witness Protection Program, wouldn't my new name depend on where I was going and the available social security numbers? Like if I was farming an identity?

11. What was the last thing that you bought?
Dinner. Before that, a pair of shoes. Or a luggage tag. I forget which came first.

12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Lots of places! I would go to Ireland way more often, I'll tell you that. And San Diego. And Japan. And Italy. SO MANY PLACES.

13. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Probably somewhere similar to now. I like my job, I like my house, I like my life... So maybe a place similar to where I am now, but with more accomplished? I'd like to have a few manuscripts out or some such within the next five years, at least.

14. Where's your birthmark?
I have one on my left palm and another on the outside of my left knee.

15. What are you doing this weekend?
This past weekend? I went shopping, I had book club, and then I did all the stuff I already mentioned today. So yes.

16. Which book are you reading at the moment?
The Sunday Philosophy Club. It's kind of a long read. I'm kind of reading it because I feel like I have to at this point.

17. The last movie you've seen?
I last saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in theatres, but I watched the original, Rat Pack version of Ocean's Eleven last night at home.

18. What are you doing tomorrow?
Working, and then hopefully going dancing.
kageotogi: (cherry)
Okay, because I apparently have nothing worthwhile to say... Here's a question meme.

Comment with "Come at me, bro," and:
- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

These questions are courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lawless523.

I answered questions! )
kageotogi: (a nice murder)
Okay, so [livejournal.com profile] photoash did this and it was really fun to read and because I haven't updated this journal in, like, twenty years (slight exaggeration?) I decided I was going to do it, too. So there.

Answering questions is easier than thinking of something original to say. )
kageotogi: (dance dance)
[livejournal.com profile] boobiequeen posted this, and I just couldn't resist. Comment on this entry and I'll give you a letter. Then find ten songs you love that begin with that letter and share them with the class.

She gave me the letter 'M'. )
kageotogi: (fine art [mortenavida])
All right, first things first. NaNoWriMo. How is that going, you ask? It goes like this.

32495 / 50000

So not great, but it's happening. I'm hoping to hit 35k tonight and 40k+ by the end of the weekend, but we'll see. I won't hold me to it if you won't.

I got tagged for a meme, and thus a meme I will do. It's a decent distraction from work, but I'm still holding [livejournal.com profile] skybound2 responsible.

1. If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question.
2. Tag eight sexy people.

Questions, questions! )
kageotogi: (manic)
Halloween is my favorite holiday. Apparently everyone and their mother knows this, too, because I came into work to a Halloween-ified cubicle. Pictures forthcoming; I just need to get those from the culprit. But yes, the entire cube was draped in fake spider webbing and there were gummy/jelly eyeballs lining the outside wall.

Best holiday evar.

That said, [livejournal.com profile] masteroftrouble got me looped in an icon meme. It goes as follows:

1. Comment to this entry saying 'ICONS!'
2. I will pick 6 of your icons.
3. Make an entry in your own journal and talk about the icons I chose.

She picked... )
kageotogi: (tatsuha [kageotogi])
I thought this looked like simply too much fun, so I got myself tagged by [livejournal.com profile] cuethe_pulse. Basically, the meme goes like this: Comment and I'll give you a person. Find a picture of that person for each category. Post the results in your journal.

My person? One Uesugi Tatsuha.

Yeah, this is going to be fun. )

In summary, Tatsuha is frickin' awesome.

You know what is not so awesome? My PreNoWriMo project. But we won't talk about that.
kageotogi: (storms [mortenavida])
I responded to this meme over on [livejournal.com profile] lawless523's journal, so here goes. I've done this before, so I'm sure you guys know the deal. Comment, and I'll give you five questions. Feel free to answer them as a comment, if you don't want to post them (I hate posting them, but always feel weird giving responses in-comment. Whatever. I give you guys permission to do just that, because lord knows it's hard to think of good questions), or post them in your own journal and pass the meme along. Whatever you'd prefer.

...the exact meme text, as stolen from [livejournal.com profile] lawless523, is actually "Leave me a comment saying 'SOCK IT TO ME, BABY' (or something similar). I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better. Update your journal with the answers to the questions. Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions. You may also comment without being grilled. :)", if you decide to re-post.

Five questions. )

[livejournal.com profile] thstlenshmrock and I successfully completed this year's Script Frenzy, albeit by the skin of our teeth. Good job, us!

With that challenge done, I have to concentrate on The Novel From Hell, which I promised I'd finish by the end of May. Considering that back in September of last year I swore I'd have it done by the end of October, same year, I'm not really getting my hopes up. But it'd be nice, wouldn't it? And I'm so close to being done. It's really just a matter of writing the last two scenes. The second-to-last scene (the one I'm on) is of course a pain in the butt, though, and thus hindering my progress. But I'll do it, and I'll do it because if I don't do it I'll hate myself forever.

No kidding.

It's going to be a busy weekend! There is pie to be had tonight, I'm working the MASL cruise tomorrow, and [livejournal.com profile] punctuates, [livejournal.com profile] thstlenshmrock, and I will be rocking the Sheep & Wool Festival on Sunday. I'm holding out some hope that I can find a yarn I need while at the festival, but I'm not wholly confident in that one. I may have to bite the bullet, so to speak, and get a different dye lot. Le sad.

To close, [livejournal.com profile] mortenavida tagged me for a meme. I'm a little sad about this. In any case, I did the meme, then realized I had no way to post it, as my scanner is hidden away at my parents' house (the ink in the printer part dried up, so I didn't even bother taking it to the apartment... Not to mention how rarely I'd use it and how little room I had for it at the time). So I can't post the meme. Today.

Maybe this weekend.
kageotogi: (as you wish [skybound2])
I stoled this from [livejournal.com profile] boobiequeen because I was desperate to do something not-work while I was at work today. Oh, cut cut cut!

We've gotta keep 'em separated. )
kageotogi: (nightmares [kageotogi])
They said I had to.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me.

My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year. No guarantees when, it will be a total surprise!
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a mix tape. It may be story or a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? You must repost this, and repost right away. We can all make stuff and make someone's day a little bit brighter!

meme me.

kageotogi: (moon jelly [imayb1])
[livejournal.com profile] phoenixchilde tagged me on this, so we can totally blame it on her. Meme me!

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.

B) Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

Nineteen is too many. )

edit: I just realized I didn't tag anyone. Whoops?
kageotogi: (cherry [kageotogi])
Google is putting its hand in a lot of pots. I'm not sure how I feel about it infiltrating every aspect of my internet world.

Anyway, whatever. Another meme.

The rules? Well, the first rule of this meme is that we do not discuss the meme. Also, you can't know the questions unless you do the thing, so everyone's insatiable curiosity should go wild. Those are the rules I got from [livejournal.com profile] forevermadness, anyway. The ones I read on [livejournal.com profile] imayb1's journal were a little more number-number.

The meme. )
kageotogi: (writer's life [kageotogi])
[livejournal.com profile] jinsai did this meme ages ago, and I bookmarked it so I could do it later. Then [livejournal.com profile] mortenavida posted a variation of it a few days ago, and I remembered that I still Hadn't Done It. So, um, I did it. And I didn't do a fantastic job, but I'm pleased with at least two of the results.

Song Meme

1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Put iTunes or equivalent media player on random.
3. For each song that plays, write something related to the theme you picked inspired by the song. You have only the time frame of the song: no planning beforehand: you start when it starts, and no lingering afterward; once the song is over, you stop writing. (No fair skipping songs either; you have to take what comes by chance!)
4. Do 5 of these, then post.

I'm using Winamp (I can't stand iTunes), and my character is Eiri from Gravitation. Surprise surprise.

Le meme.

kageotogi: (long for a grapefruit [kageotogi)
I haven't done one of these in a while, so...

a. comment on this post saying you want to play and I will choose seven interests from your profile.
b. you will then explain what they mean and why you are interested in them.
c. post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

These interests were picked by [livejournal.com profile] mortenavida. Of course.

Meme meme meme. )

In other, non-meme news, [livejournal.com profile] thstlenshmrock has endeavored to practice her flute more often, and is encouraging me to do the same. Potential membership and/or indulgence with the Baltimore Flute Choir is helping that motivation along. We're going to their rehearsal on September 7th, and we'll see how that shapes up. So that's exciting.

I also read this article a while back, and found it interesting. Just because.
kageotogi: (fork you [kageotogi])
[livejournal.com profile] togepi tagged me, so I suppose I should do this before I forget.

Game rules:
A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves. Tag eight people. Those who are tagged cannot refuse.

B) These eight people must state who they were tagged by. You cannot tag the person who tagged you. Continue this game by sending this to eight other people. People who are tagged will be blessed and their wishes will come true in the future.

I don't think the part about wishes is true, but whatever... )

tagging: You, you, you, you, you, you, you, and [livejournal.com profile] imayb1, who might actually consider doing it. Because why not?
kageotogi: (going for it [wizzicons])
The more people (namely [livejournal.com profile] kloos411, [livejournal.com profile] thstlenshmrock, and O.) let me talk about this coffee shop idea, the more plausible it seems. And then my mind trips over new problems ("Hey, this area already has coffee shops" and "Crap, all the mugs sold in bulk look ugly", for instance) and I get discouraged again.

It would still be really cool.

In other news:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick three of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Huzzah!

[livejournal.com profile] imayb1 picked these three:

The first is a picture of Hana from Fruits Basket. At the time I was really into making icons with song lyrics in the background (this was before I realized that, hey, minimal is better), and this was (I believe) Hana's image song. I of course can't find the song now, so I'm not entirely certain, but I'm going to go with that. In any case, I rarely use this icon now, primarily because the picture-over-lyrics thing got old and I have lots of better ones.

Icon 2 is a direct reference to Les Misérables, of course. I read the translated-but-unabridged book when I was in middle school because I wanted to look intelligent (but probably just came off as pretentious), and because I enjoyed the soundtrack. Either way, I really did enjoy the book, and have read it several times since. The French does nothing for me, and the Cosette/Marius thing drives me a little crazy, but I have an insane love for Jean Valjean and Javert. Anyway, when I found this icon (while trolling the net; I sadly have no idea who made it), I had to have it. It describes the "Hey, Marius let all his friends down because he was swooning over some romantic notion of happily ever after" scene perfectly, and has the potential for dark undertones when paired with one of my favorite songs from the musical ("Empty Chairs"). I use this icon whenever I don't know what other icon to use, or when I feel I've let someone down.

The third icon is Son Goku from Saiyuki. Essentially, I found a picture of him with "START!" written on his tongue, thought it was funny, and cropped it into a base. It's my "get into action" or "kick start!" icon, I guess. Mostly it just amuses me. I wonder who wrote on his tongue, and if it tickled. Plus, come on. Sharpie to the tongue? Comedy gold. He must have been tasting marker for days.
