Real life conversations.

Joan: "Something was going to happen"? What's that?
Me: Mmm. Part of the fan fic for J-chan.
Joan: You've surpassed fan fic. It's too long for that. Fan novel. Fannovel.
Me: ...
Joan: And if it's short? Fannovella. That sounds like a name -- you should use it.
Me: It sounds like a ghetto Cinderella.
Joan: Well... maybe it is! Why do you gotta be hating?
Me: I'm not hating.
Joan: Hating.
Me: *pout*

And, later...

Joan: We're too funny. And now it's time for two funny people to go to bed! *pause* Ha! It's only funny to me because I'm the only one inside my head!
Me: *stare*

I love her. ^__^

Writing and net.

My writing isn't cooperating today, and I think it's because I'm stupid. Ah well. There will (hopefully) be plenty of time for that later, when the campus kills the net.

Speaking of which. Campus IT Services are shutting down our Internet/Ethernet today from 7:30 to about nine o'clock so they can repair something. They originally planned to shut it down at 4:30 until about six, but some professors complained and shot down the idea. Whatever. I'll be without net access this evening, but it won't be for too long. The hour and a half should give me some time to scowl at my writing and (hopefully) make some breakthroughs in the writer's block. Boo on that.

Today in Advanced Fiction we discussed plotty-plotty, thinky-thinky, and floaty-groundy. Barkley insists that these are all legitimate terms, but whatever. While discussing floaty-groundy, I thought of a way to vastly improve last year's NaNoWriMo attempt, so I may try to figure that out later (today or this week or something. Later). We'll see how that one goes, I guess.
