Update? Update. (I use this subject line a lot.)

I found this article on Stockholm Syndrome very interesting, and thought I'd share. Just because~! (For those Gravi fans on my list, does this remind you at all of the Eiri/Shuichi relationship? Because it sort of does me. I mean, clearly that doesn't go to quite the same extreme, but...)

So I found a laptop on eBay last week, and it arrived Monday morning. I've been having a good time sort of fiddling with it every evening, just trying to work my way around the eccentricities of Vista. Between that and the whole "not a desktop!" mindset, I'm finding it counter-intuitive. Not because there's a problem with Vista (I've been finding all sorts of neat tricks and tips to make it run faster, and I've been doing lots of uninstalls and setting tweaks), but because I'm not used to either the OS or the medium. I'll get it, though. Just needs time.

I'm having trouble getting the internet on my laptop while at my apartment, however, which makes me sad. I had no problem connecting at my parents' house, but something is up with the passcode or something with my home network; I may have it copied down wrong. I might have to do some research on that and see how it goes. Until then, I'm limited to fiddling and Word. Which is nice. I like that combination.

The light rail busted itself on Monday (a tree fell on the tracks. Again. Every time this happens, the city acts as though it's the FIRST TIME EVAR) and wasn't operational for certain stops yesterday. Mine, of course, was one of those stops. I made an attempt at taking the bus, which didn't show up until very, very late, and wound up driving to work instead. Since I'd offered to give [livejournal.com profile] thstlenshmrock a ride home anyway, I tagged along with her, sat through her giving flute lessons to two adorable little girls, and then got my hair cut. Hair cut! It's still long. Of course. But it's shorter than it was (mid-back instead of... Um... Most-back?) and the bleach is mostly gone now and it's a lot nicer. So, yes. Happy days.

...all that typing I swore I'd do this weekend never actually got done. Whoops.
