Rather than working from computer files when we're publishing a new edition of a book, some authors prefer to actually work in hardcopy. Basically I take two copies of the book, rip them apart page by page, and tape or paste the pages to white paper. Then the author makes all their corrections or changes to the page itself, sends the packet back to us, and we make the electronic changes in the computer file. Making the tearsheets takes more time than just sending a disc, but it's kind of cathartic and I can do it while watching TV, so I don't mind. It's super easy.
