the F-M Ammend.

The Federal Marriage Ammendment did not pass. ^_^ It was very close, though--48 against, 50 for, and 2 no-votes (Kerry and Edwards). Both of the senators from my state voted nay, and I applaud them for it!

Mine were split. But my favorite voted nay, so I will huggle him now. *huggles Harry Reid*

You have a favorite senator?

Well... of the two from my state, that is.

I used to have a favorite senator too...

They needed 60 to get it off the ground, since it's a constitutional ammendment.

Ah, good point. That's even better, then! ^_^

doesn't a constitutional amendment need 67 (2/3 majority)? Or was is 60 to vote and 67 to pass >.< GAH! Too long since constitutional government class *twitch*

love the iconage ^_________^

^^ It was a procedural vote, which is why Kerry and Edwards didn't bother going. If they had gotten 60, it would have gotten the ball rolling. Because they had less than that (quite a few less, I'm realizing now) the amendment has failed.

Bush is now urging the House to take it up.

^^; Thanks. Got it from [livejournal.com profile] johnxjohn, the Kerry/Edwards otp community. XD
