I've also started to wonder why I ask for the opinions of people for whom I have little to no respect. I should stop talking to people via AIM; while the majority of the people I talk to are intelligent, funny, and fantastic, the select few who I can't stand (oftentimes the ones who decide to go all fangirl on me -- and who are usually between the ages of 12-16) are the ones that seem to be on the most often. And, because I get bored easily, I talk back to them. And then I ask them questions when they ask me questions and things get out of hand and then I realize I'm asking them for opinions and ideas when I hate them all. T_T

Lol! So true, that's why I stopped, and also stopped caring about what some of the people who read my work might think. It's just a no-win situation :D
