Stories, gameage, and Christmas.
Happy Christmas Eve, to those who are celebrating. (Happy belated Emperor's Birthday-day over in Japan, too. I suck at remembering these things.)
I was going through my old nittlegrasper.zzn email account and found a story idea I'd emailed to myself last Christmas, in which (the short version) Shuichi is left alone for Christmas. I read through the idea and the brief-brief-BRIEF excerpt I'd written of it and scoffed for a moment. Please. I know very well that Christmas is celebrated by about 1% of the Japanese population. I know very well that the basis of the idea was silly (and fluffy). I know this, I know that...
...and then I thought of a way to make the idea work without going against the facts. >.< Stupid me.
Aaaanyway. There's no way I can write a story like that in a day, so I guess I'll either save it for next year (ha! Like I'd remember) or write it and post it in... like, July. Which would be interesting, at least. (Or I could screw myself over and write it in a day. But I'd like to think I have more of a life than that. Sort of. Kind of. Um. I spent all day after work today playing video games. Don't judge me.)
We'll see.
In other news, I spent all day today after work (which was okay) playing my FMA game. It takes me forever to finish video games, and in case I neglected to gloat at you the other day, I finishe the first FMA game (The Broken Angel) earlier this week. High points of the game? Lots of movie-scenes. They played "TANK!" during the battle against Mustang and Armstrong. The ending was angst-worthy, which I love. So I finished that, and I (finally) started on the second FMA game (Curse of the Crimson Elixir), which I bought several months ago. High points thus far? Coooor. Beautiful graphics (comparitively). Voices all the way through (yay!). New options and such in the control menu (the button-changes between the first and second game still confuse me now and then, but I'm getting the hang of it). And the Roy/Hughes/Ed interaction. So wonderful.
The game, for those who don't already know, is almost-but-not-quite a recap of the first few bits of the manga. Or the anime, I guess. Having never seen the latter, I wouldn't know. In any case, it begins with Cornello and Rose -- but it ends differently than the actual bit does in the story. Then it goes on to East City, where we fight some dude in the sewer. The ending is strangely reminiscent to the bit in the manga when Ed and Al are on a hijacked train and Roy comes in and kicks but at the end -- his introduction is exactly the same. Um... Hughes accuses Ed of trying to hit on his daughter. Hughes and Roy act like fuddy-duddies (you heard me). Roy despairs over possibly owing Ed a favor. There's the bit with Scar (which is definitely not worth the effort. I restarted four times trying to beat the stupid guy, realized the outcome was the same even if I lost, and decided to make it easy on myself). Then, at Pinako's place, Winry hits Ed with a wrench (which becomes a really cool accessory -- yay!), Ed and Al spar with Armstrong (also not worth the effort; I beat him and he still seemed to think I lost. Bastard). ...and that's as far as I've gotten so far. Long story short, the game is great. My only complaint? There's a lot of non-play game time. In other words, they devote a lot of time to telling the story and not enough to the actual game. I like to beat stuff up. I don't mind the occasional interjection of plot and story and all, but chapter four -- which is spent in Resembool -- is almost a full half hour worth of story without the user doing anything but hitting the "more dialogue, please, because I'm masochistic!" button over and over again.
...also, there could stand to be more movies. I love the littls movie bits.
In any case, it's a fun game. The soundtrack leaves a little something to be desire thus far, however. With the exception of the opening song, that is. ^_~
Um.
My brother and I (just me, thus far; he hasn't contributed any cash) bought our parents a chair for Christmas and we put it together tonight, simply so we wouldn't have to stress over it tomorrow. Now the stupid thing won't fit in my closet and his room is too messy to put anything in... So I stuck the chair beside my bed and covered it with a blanket. XD They'll never see it in a million years!
(We are the suck. ^_~)
My lips are chapped. Woe.

I figured out a way to make it half-work. I think.

My mom told me and my brother not to get her anything cause we don't have jobs. But if we did she'd expects a little something... AND HOW CAN YOU NOT NOTICE A CHAIR???????
*took a long time to realize we had a recliner in our living room*
ahem.... >.>;;

...the chair is a sneaky-ninja and it's covered by a blanket. (Never mind that it's the only thing out of place in my almost-immaculate room. The chair is under-cover! No one will notice!)

I hope your parents like their chair. Have a fun holiday. :D

Uh...
...
Yeah, I could do that. ^^ Thanks for the idea! (With my luck, I'll forget to do it anyway. ^_~)
They'd better like the chair. I'm not taking such good care hiding it just for them to go "meh" and move on. ^_~ (Nah. I hope they like it, too. I bought it on a whim because my mother was complaining about the chair we have in the office, sitting in front of the computer. It's an old folding chair with a cushioned seat and back... and it kind of sucks. So I hope she likes this one better.)
