Wouldn't it figure? I came home from an okay band practice today and went to a fantastic horse-back session, and all of a sudden I came home, and my good mood went to smashes.
All I did was mention the Day of Silence. Is there something wrong about that?
Apparently my mother thinks so. I told her what it was, and she went on a raving fit about how it wasn't right and about how homosexuals, bis, etc. were performing sinful acts and should be ashamed of themselves. I never knew my mother was homophobic... It came as quite a shock, actually.
I didn't have the nerve to tell her I signed up to observe the Day of Silence, so I just let it slide. I'm still doing it, though! I just don't plan on letting her know that.
I am so very tempted to make something up and bring home a "girlfriend," just to see what she would do. I won't of course, since I'd feel so stupid making something like that up just to perturb my mom (and I don't feel like getting grounded...), but it was fun to imagine the scene.
Yeah.
So my mother is a homo-phobe. That bothers me, somewhat. I mean, I understand that it's quite okay for people to be different in whatever way, whether it be their skin color, their sexuality, or whether or not they listen to the right music, and I always assumed she didn't have a problem with that either. I mean, she does know my dear, dear cousin...
Whoops. I forgot. She doesn't know about my dear, dear cousin... So far as she knows, my dear, dear cousin is straight. As an arrow, in fact.
Hell, far as I know she could be straight. It's just what I've heard, and it seems amazingly obvious to a lot of us (even David, and he's dense as a brick!), but I haven't heard her say anything to confirm it.
I'll have to bring up the subject one day when she comes over. ^_^ That'll be fun.
Argh... I'm going to go figure out how to update my site without destroying everything now. Damn Poe! He did something funky with the file, and now I don't know what I'm doing! Grrr!!!
Anyways, I'm still going through with the Day of Silence. Just because my mother is close-minded is no reason not to stand up for what I believe in, dammit!
