kageotogi: (comfortable [domacatrix])
I haven't done one of these in a very long time so, well, I figured I should. That, and anyone who knows me should own this song. Because it has zombies. Duh.

Title: Jonathan Coulton -- Re: Your Brains
Album: Thing a Week or Two
Comments: ZOMBIES. What's not to love? Also, after I hear the lyrics "No one's gonna eat your eyes" I always want to add a "Maybe". Am I alone?

The Song

I have no idea what to write for NaNoWriMo next month. Argh. -_- Also, my insurance company is mean. They have clearly been ignoring the rule against cruel and unusual punishment, and they should work on that.

Music~!

kageotogi: (long for a grapefruit [kageotogi)
[livejournal.com profile] baka_duo_neko requested this, and since I haven't posted a music download since, say, February... *shrug* Here you go!

Title: Tomokazu Seki: Welcome to My Romance
Album: (I have no idea. Gravitation?)
Comments: Horrible Engrish? Pseudo-sexy lyrics? An attempt at rap? What's not to love? Plus, Tomokazu Seki is awesome. I actually like his music better than Inoue Kazuhiko's, and considering that I am so an Inoue fangirl, that's something special. ^_~

The Song

[livejournal.com profile] pereppi's sister-in-law is birthing (I think I got that right), so [livejournal.com profile] domacatrix and I were left to our own devices tonight. We went malling, and I wound up with two new DVDs (for the price of one). Joan found herself some shoes, and we had an interesting time trying to enhance our wardrobes. We fail at enhancements, even though she Looks Good In Everything.

[livejournal.com profile] kloos411 adopted a kitten named SabrinaHobbes. He's adorable~! Or his pictures make him look adorable, at least. And that's something.

I was hit on at the gas station. It was pretty hilarious.
kageotogi: (vote for porn [sa_kanya])

Title: Wicked: the Soundtrack
Album: Wicked
Comments: I saw the show last week, and when I mentioned it in the eljay, I got quite a number of people expressing interest in it. I know a lot of you already have the music, but here's a copy of the tunes for those of you who don't -- especially [livejournal.com profile] yellowhorde. Sorry it took so long for me to put it up, dear, but i hope you enjoy it.

The Song

All right... And, because I can, a to-do list. Yay, to-do lists! This will be altered as necessary, but the goal is to get most of this done by the end of the weekend.

Title: Celebration
Artist: Kool & the Gang
Album: Celebrate!
Day: Thirty!
Why? If you guys can't figure this one out, then you don't deserve the song. November is finally over! NaNoWriMo is done! Yay~!

[livejournal.com profile] lain_chan16 requested this one, so here's an extra song for everyone who doesn't already have it. ^.^

Title: Please God
Artist: Ana Voog
Album: Ana Voog
Comments: This song is uber-dirty. Love it or leave it; I don't care.
kageotogi: (toast love [kageotogi])
EDIT: When filling out the holiday poll, please don't forget to give me your name, as you want it to appear on the envelope. Otherwise, um, there may be some very interesting names going on these cards. o_O Furthermore, I will stop taking card requests on December 12, 2006, so you only have until then to give me your mailing address. Just so you know!

[Poll #878410]

My kitten is trying to knead my arm, lick my elbow, and pull down my towel all at the same time. What the hell, kitten? Also, he is kneading the parts of my arm that got stabbed a lot during fencing tonight (I was completely off my game; I was getting hit all over the place -- including that little space right under my collarbone. Which, if it bruises, will be fun to explain).

Title: Here's To The Night
Artist: Eve 6
Album: Horrorscope
Day: Twenty-nine
Why? There's only one night left to cram in those NaNoWriMo words, everyone -- use it wisely, and then be sure to think back on those nights where you could do normal things like sleep.

And, because I feel like it, here's one more.

Title: Tetris
Artist: 2pm
Album: Trance 2003 the Second Edition

Le things.

The answers to yesterday's meme have been posted, and comments are now unscreened. Go see how you did!

Song Title: Words That We Couldn't Say
Artist: Yoko Kanno
Album: Blue
Day: Twenty-seven
Why? There are always words we just can't put into writing. This song is for them.

Song Title: Chocolate
Artist: Snow Patrol
Album: Final Straw
Day: Twenty-eight
Why? This is either because you should worship your novel like chocolate, or because you should bribe yourself with chocolate. Or because I like the song. *cough* Guess which it is?
kageotogi: (perfect companions [domacatrix])

Booyah, baby.

Yesterday's Thanksgiving with my family was good. I saw some of my cousins and the usual set of aunts and uncles, and my grandmother, and it was good. Also, [livejournal.com profile] domacatrix was there, and that was cool, too. I miss hanging out with her.

After the family thing, I went to Joan's house for the night and pilfered my mother's laptop so I could work on my NaNoWriMo project while I hung out. We watched the movies of joy -- Recess and Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, most specifically. Then we slept. Her bed is yum.

Around two o'clock this afternoon, we got some lunch at the Wendy's and returned to the apartment to watch Clue. I also managed to find and jack someone's wireless connection and got online via laptop for a little while. Then, around six o'clock, the most amazing thing happened: I hit 50,000 words in my novel. Squee. I validated the novel and ate celebratory ice cream. Then Joan (who has been declared my muse) made jumbalaya and we ate dinner. It was equally yum. Um. Then Joan burned me a CD and I went home.

Yep. Good times.

Anyway, here are some music downloads!

Song Title: I'm On My Way
Artist: The Proclaimers
Album: Shrek
Day: Twenty-five
Why? The month is almost over -- we're getting there! Yay!

Song Title: Running Through The Wet Grass
Artist: Better Than Ezra
Album: Single
Day: Twenty-six
Why? We did so many things before the month of November. We ate. We drank. We laughed. We loved. We lived. Now? Now we're chained to our computers, forced to type out word after word and praying that soon, oh so very soon, we'll hit our goal. Until then? We'll just have to stick with remembering things like laughing and loving and living and running through wet grass. (It's also far too cold for that. Brr.)

Le music~

kageotogi: (spanking [kageotogi])

Title: Upward Over the Mountain
Artist: Iron & Wine
Album: The Creek Drank the Cradle
Day: Twenty-four
Why? Um. I don't actually feel like explaining anything. ^^ Sorry.

Today I've been a bum. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving (for my family). That'll be fun.
kageotogi: (sakura ryo [kageotogi])
My family celebrates Thanksgiving on Saturday. Today is "Go Visit Grandma" day. And, lucky me, I woke up with a headache. I am uber not happy about that.

[livejournal.com profile] rosethorne, I received the card you sent (like, last week. I just keep forgetting to tell you). It gave me a giggle! Thank you. ^_^

Song Title: Mission Impossible: Remix
Artist: Orbital
Album: Mission Impossible 2
Day: Twenty-two.
Why? Meh. I'm not going to explain this one. I would like to note, though, that I have never seen any of the Mission Impossible movies, and I'm not sure I'm going to. We'll see.

Song Title: Feed Me
Artist: Little Shop of Horrors
Album: Little Shop of Horrors
Day: Twenty-three.
Why? This one seems appropriate for Thanksgiving. ^.^ Um. Also, I like to think of my novel as being akin to Audrey II, our lovely, man-eating plant. Just replace "plant" with "novel" and you've got it. Yep.

Finally, [livejournal.com profile] cynicalsiren tagged me for a meme. Sad. ^.^ But here it is~!

List five songs that you currently love. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the songs in your blog. Then tag five other Livejournal friends to see what they're listening to.

The songs -- with downloads! )

No tags, because my head hurts and I don't want anyone mad at me. :P
kageotogi: (kung fu queen [domacatrix])
This evening, while I was coming down in the elevator to leave work and go to my car, I had a thought. Um. Well, first, read this thread in [livejournal.com profile] domacatrix's journal, since that will pre-empt what I say next. After the thread, Joan IMed me, and I couldn't help myself:

Me: Snakes on an Elevaaaaator.
Joan: Yessssss
Me: Creeeeeeepy.
Me: That's what occurred to me while I was taking the elevator downstairs today BY MYSELF and it started creaking and making funny noises. My brain went "...snakes could totally come through the ventilation holes". My next thought was "...holy shit. If that happened, I'd probably piss myself." My third thought was something like "...I wonder if that would make the snakes go away?"
Me: And then the doors opened and everything was okay.
Joan: lol

That's... in case any of you wanted to know what I think about when I'm by myself on elevators. *facepalm* It could be worse. Yesterday I took the elevator up by myself and my brain went "...dude. The back of this elevator opens." And then my brain went "...this is like something out of a bad horror movie." And then I spent the rest of the elevator ride (and my morning) wondering how I could die in an elevator. Oddly enough, snakes didn't even occur to me at that point.

I have a to-do list, and I'm not sharing it with you. Nyuhnyuh.

Title: Defying Gravity
Artist: Wicked
Album: Wicked
Day: Twenty-one
Why? This song makes me think of Joan. Partially because she made it her theme song last year, yes, and partially because I just begged her to email it to me (my brother has stolen my CD), and partially because it's a very Joan song. Um. So why put it up for a NaNo download? That should be obvious. Dude. If we can defy gravity, of course we can hit 50,000 words by the end of the month. Piece of cake.

Music~!

kageotogi: (evil fish! [wolfhearted])

Title: One Song Glory
Artist: RENT
Album: RENT
Day: Twenty
Why? Ten days left until the end of NaNoWriMo, and I know that I could use a bit of one song glory right now. (That made no sense. I'm sorry.) Pretty much all of you have this song, don't you? I fail. Sorry. Um. This is from the show, now the movie. If that makes a difference.

Yesterday, I wrote almost seven thousand words! And I'm still four thousand words behind~! Wow, I'm doing badly this year! ^__^
kageotogi: (nothing ever happens [snitched])
So! I turned my internet off so I could get some NaNoWriMo-ing done today. And what did I do instead of write? I changed the oil in my car. It was productive, yes, but the wrong sort of productivity than what I need. ^^ Still, I did catch up a little on NaNo. Sort of. Now I'm only five thousand words behind instead of nine thousand. Woo!

Title: Schadenfreude
Artist: Avenue Q
Album: Avenue Q
Day: Nineteen
Why? I give you all permission to feel better about yourselves based on my inability to work on my NaNoWriMo novel and/or my inability to stay away from the internet for more than a few hours at a time. Okay? So. Go. *heart* Schadenfreude the night away.

edit:

Whahahahahahahaha. >D I'm catching up! Slowly, but I'm catching up! It's such a good feeling~!
kageotogi: (stinkbaby [kageotogi])

Song Title: Hymn For Those Left Behind
Artist: Shannon Moore
Album: Latter Days
Day: Seventeen
Why? At this point yesterday, I was eight thousand words behind. Now I'm nine thousand words behind. Ladies and gents, this is a hymn for all the people like me -- those who are lagging horribly, for one reason or another. In my case, it's because I Hate My Novel. In yours, it might be something else -- and for your sake, I hope it is.

Song Title: Superman
Artist: Lazlo Bane
Album: Scrubs
Day: Eighteen
Why? The month is half over, and I'm way far behind in my words. I could finish if I busted my ass, but this is not an ass-busting sort of time for me. So, I plead normalacy and wonder what I was thinking. ^.^

I'm thinking about starting my NaNoWriMo project over, since I hate my current project oh-so-very-much. It would give me 12 days to write 50,000 words, though, and I don't think I could do that. So... Um. We'll see. *phail*
kageotogi: (rose place [snitched])

Title: Focus on the Positives
Artist: Truth
Album: -
Day: Sixteen
Why? Tobacco = writer's vice. Um. Not in my world, but whatever. So! I don't know about you, but I'm over 5,000 words behind. Focusing on the positives is definitely my goal for the rest of tonight -- and perhaps the rest of the month. o_O Also, this song is funny. Download it. ^_^ *heart*

Le music.

Nov. 15th, 2006 09:58 pm
kageotogi: (peek [kageotogi])
Productivity and I fail at life, especially where NaNoWriMo is concerned. But that's okay. I think this whole "OMG TRYING TO FIGURE OUT MY NEW JOB" thing gives me an excuse for not writing so much as I would like. Also, the whole sleep thing. Yes. However, I plan to catch up to NaNo this weekend, if I can. Never mind that I'm almost 5,000 words behind.

Anyway. Music!

Song Title: Writer in the Sun
Artist: Donovan
Album: Troubadour
Day: Fourteen
Why? [livejournal.com profile] imayb1 sent me this song, and it's quite lovely. Um. It was semi-sunny yesterday, and I would have loved to enjoy that sunny day, but I had work. So I was not a writer in the sun. But perhaps you were? If not, well, that's what the weekend is for. Also, windows.

Song Title: Seize the Day
Artist: Newsies
Album: Newsies
Day: Fifteen
Why? Today was not a day-seizing kind of day, but perhaps tomorrow will be. After work, of course. ^^ [livejournal.com profile] mortenavida sent me this song for reasons that (I believe) had nothing to do with NaNoWriMo. Nonetheless, it applies.
kageotogi: (*glee* [kageotogi])
[livejournal.com profile] na_no_da_ rocks my socks. *horribly amused* A few weeks ago, I wrote her a letter in which I sort of rambled on about nothing, and at some point I decided I wanted a button or a pin that read "I write porn in public places", since I was, uh, writing smut at work. I also said something about how I could never wear it, really, although I would probably wear it to cons and to coffee shops so no one would bother me. Today she got online and told me the following:

Midnight: Oh I got you a present
Midnight: Oh oh I wanna hint what I got you!
Me: Sure?
Midnight: you can wear it to cons...
Midnight: and at coffee shops, no one will annoy you
Midnight: cause you have this
Me: XD Ohgod. XDDD
Midnight: Oh yes
Me: I take it you got my letter, then. XD
Midnight: yes.

Enough said. Now I'm trying to figure out how I can smuggle the button into work without getting a few choice, arched eyebrows. Oooh, that'll be fun.

Spreckin' of which, I started my new job today over at Wolters Kluwer. Um. Today was pretty much spent getting to know people (I fail at that), cleaning up the mess left behind by the previous person (which wasn't so bad; she just left a big pile of papers on the floor, which I haven't gotten to yet, and paperclips all over the place), and trying to figure out all the silly orientation stuff. Also, by getting the Best Coffee In The Building (there's a special room downstairs with the "Good Coffee", which one of my two bosses spent fifteen minutes pointing out to me before she showed me how to use the machine. So much love).

I'm in way over my head, job-wise, but I think I'll manage after a little while. ^^ Hopefully everything will work out and I'll be a happy chica, yes? Yes.

That being said, it's time for today's music download!

Title: Sooner Or Later
Artist: Fastball
Album: All The Pain Money Can Buy
Day: Thirteen
Why? This song speaks the truth. Sooner or later, we will push it through. We will make the novels see who's in charge. There will be winnage. Hopefully, it'll be sooner rather than later, but who are we to be picky?
kageotogi: (long for a grapefruit [kageotogi)
I hit 19,000 at NaNo last night, which means I have only a few hundred words to go before I hit today's minimum (20,004). This is especially good, since I have to do some of the Jr. Editions site today, before I do anything else. And then I should try and get a sizeable cushion for the upcoming week, since I start the new job tomorrow... *cringe* We'll see how all this goes.

I went to the Glenelg Homecoming game yesterday, and it was very, very sad. Glenelg won 38-6, and the game was... Pathetic. The opposing team is about a year old and made up almost entirely of underclassmen, and they just couldn't stand up to Glenelg's 40-something year old team. The game was boring as a result. Although some of the tackles? Pretty interesting. Also, [livejournal.com profile] domacatrix went with me, so watching people eye her while she cheered for the opposing team was kind of fun.

Yesterday, I forgot to post a download. Whoops. Here goes -- one for yesterday and today.

Song Title: Amber
Artist: 311
Album: From Chaos
Day: Eleven
Why? Amber is the color of our energy. I don't know why. It just is. Praise energy!

Song Title: Do It Again
Artist: Stroke 9
Album: Rip It Off
Day: Twelve
Why? Yesterday was (for me) fairly productive. Let's have a repeat today! We can do it again!

Musac, 2.

kageotogi: (hiei watches [kageotogi])

Title: Open Up Your Mind
Artist: -
Album: Saiyuki
Day: Ten
Why? My mind could use some opening. How about yours?

Posting music downloads every day feels pretty weird. ^^ Is it just me?

Today was my last day of work at the spice company. On Monday, I start my new position with the publishing place, and I have to admit... I'm pretty nervous about it. Um. I'll be fine, though. Right? I hope so.

Musac.

Nov. 9th, 2006 07:29 pm
kageotogi: (chess sex [kageotogi])

Title: Every Little Thing
Artist: Police
Album: Wedding Singer
Day: Nine
Why? This song is wishful thinking, because I personally am having a tough time pulling out the wordcount today. Um. Hopefully everything I do will be magic soon, though.

Today, for work, I drove a van. Woooo.

Download!

Nov. 8th, 2006 10:24 pm
kageotogi: (rock on [__stormyskies])

Title: You're the Only One
Artist: Maria Mena
Album: White Turns Blue
Day: Eight
Why? At this point, we should all be completely devoted to our novels. It's the start of week two, and we have all come to terms with the time and energy our succubus-like projects are stealing from us. It is the only thing we can love at this point. And oh, that's a lie.

...a better song for that description would probably be "You Were Always On My Mind". But that's too melancholy, and I can't find the CD on which I have the song.
