I'm doing a presentation on Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) in Psychology on Tuesday and it's going to be uber-shibby, honest. Call it odd, but I absolutely love to get up in front of people and talk on and on and on... It's in my nature, I suppose! Anyway, I'm in a group with Teri, Amy, and Lauren, so Teri, Amy, and I met in the library today to work on it. Lauren had class. So on and so forth. We decided we're going to do a skit (and it was my idea! woot!) where Teri and Amy are the psychologists and Lauren and I are the patients with MPD. Well, me, definitely, but maybe not Lauren. She's not very outgoing or anything, so we're going to ask if she'd rather be a patient or tell the class background info on MPD after the skit; if she would rather do the background info, we're going to ask for a volunteer from the class. ^_^
Anyway, the basic gist of the presentation is that Teri doesn't believe MPD exists and Amy does. So Teri's patient is going to be open to suggestions: this patient will basically have two personalities (probably just pretending, tho) and then their symptoms will get more and more profound as Teri keeps tricking them into it. Amy's patient will come in with a different disorder--depression, maybe--and end up showing that she/he has MPD. Either way, it's fun. ^_^
After the skit we're going to give out background info and then show scenes from certain movies--Sybil, Irene, Beautiful Mind, etcetera--and have the class tell which ones are examples of schizophrenia and which are examples of MPD. See, schizophrenia and MPD are often confused with each other. So we're going to quiz the class to see if they get it right! We're giving candy to the winners. Wheeee!
Brad just came in. I think he's going to try stealing my computer again. ^_~
