Mostly random Japanese stuff.
Apr. 30th, 2004 10:23 pmJoan is drawing a picture for me and I can't see what it is because she's all crunched over. *pout* It's probably a person, and a girl person. She draws girl persons real good. And they always have shibby clothes. Yes. ^_^
We were in Japanese today and we were leaning the give-and-receive stuff. Yes. Anyway, we had this worksheet where Satō-san was giving Mariko a bunch of stuff for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and her birthday, and then Mariko was giving him stuff in return. In the last picture, Mariko gave Satō-san what looked to be, in the picture, an umbrella and the country of France. Thus, Joan and I answered the panel with the following, which I've put in romanji because some people don't have the Japanese language thingy and they end up with a bunch of question marks:
"Mariko wa tanjōbi ni Satō-san ni Furansu to kasa o agemasu." (Marika gave Satō France and an umbrella for his birthday.)
Tanaka-san tried to correct us, but that only resulted in much giggling, as well as Ben's ever-so-intelligent conversation with himself:
"Furansu desu ne?" (Is that France?)
"Hai. Watashi wa anata ni agemasu." (Yes. I'm giving it to you.)
"Honto ni?" (Really truly?)
"Honto ni!" (See above.)
"Aa! Arigato!" (Thank you!)
"Do itashimashite." (You're welcome.)
