Jul. 9th, 2004 05:40 pmMy internet sucks. *whine*
'nyway... I was sitting on the couch this morning, reading a book, and my mother comes up, grabs my arm, and puts it next to hers. I'm this close to falling off the couch and so I take my arm back and ask what she wants...
Me: what was that for???
Mom: see how pale you are? You're very pale.
Me: ...yeah, I know. I don't burn, and I usually don't tan, either.
Mom: you're a freak, then?
Me: *trying to ignore her* Seems that way. The sun's rays never touch me.
Mom: want to know your father and mine's secret to tanning?
Me: if it involves mowing the lawn, I don't want to hear it.
Mom: sunless tanning lotion! I could give you some and we could add a bit of colour to you!
Me: *points out (very slight) farmer's tan* See this wrist? *holds out left wrist* I've been wearing my Zim!Band all summer, and you can see the difference in skin tone. I tanned a little. *hold out right wrist* And that's where my watch has been! See? You can see it!
Mom: it's not enough! You're too pale!
Me: *grumble* If I'm going to tan, I want to do it the old fashioned way. Cancer and all.
Mom: oh, no you don't, young lady! *goes into the "my side of the family has always been very susceptible to skin cancer, blah blah blah" spiel*
Me: ah, then I guess I'll just have to stay pale. Thanks for making up my mind for me, Mom. *goes back to reading*
Mom: ... *walks away*
In other news, I have lots and lots of bruises from fencing the other night. I found three in places I won't mention while I was showering (for the second time) this morning. I don't really remember how they got there, but I'm sure Kimmy caused at least one. The other two were probably Rick's fault... Or maybe Kerry's. I'm not sure. *shrug* Whatever. They'll go away. ^_^
The ones on my left arm are going away, too, which makes me happy. That means I did the saber parry almost right, so that they wouldn't bruise too hard. A little bit more, and I'll have it down! *whoot!* No more arm bruisings for me! ^_^
