stupid book.
Mar. 8th, 2005 12:28 am*pout* Boo to Yoshimi Yoshiaki's research-novel Comfort Women. T_T While I understand it is a very important topic and that people should be made aware of it, the book itself is sooooooo boring. *sob* Jeeez. I honestly think the same three points are brought up over and over again...
1: The Japanese government and military had a hand in setting up and rounding up the women for military comfort stations.
2: The purpose of the women was to reduce rape and sexually transmitted diseases. Neither goal was met.
3: The majority of the women were Korean, although Japanese and Chinese were also high on the list. However, important documents containing information concerning the women and the stations were destroyed, so the true statistics are probably way off.
Grr. If I didn't have an itty-bitty exam on this reading tomorrow, I so would have quit at eight o'clock, when I started reading and fell asleep. -_-
The good news is that Kyle is online and more than willing to help me make fun of the text. ^__^ Kyle is being very helpful today, oh yes. *petpet*
