kageotogi: (little world [blumchen])
To those of you who were talking to me on AIM last night, I apologize for my sudden and unheralded departure. It was, I assure you, an accident, not a result of something you said or did, and most certainly not planned. There is even a reason for it. You see, my friends, the reason is this:

I broke electricity.

...okay, not really, but that would be pretty awesome. In a bad way. What actually happened is far less fun. There were some strong winds in this area and a tree fell down on Florence Road, about five-to-ten miles from my house, knocking out the power in the district and turning into a terrible inconvenience for all the vehicles (one of which was being driven by my little brother) going in that direction.

The power came back on around six-ish this morning (I told some people seven, but I had to rethink that. I got up before the boy today, so it had to be six-ish), which woke me up because I'd neglected to turn off the overhead light when the power went blinkalicious. Not that it mattered. I slept like crap anyway. Which was also okay, as I got to think about a lot of stuff and get up early. Getting up early meant I could get the errands I planned to do yesterday done today (all done!) and dream up some ideas for stories (such as the Spin sequel I've been promising a few certain people). My story ends there.

That's right. The end. Shoo.

Oh. I work today from five to ten-ish. I plan to play with puppets.

Seriously. This time it's the end.

As much as I complain about my job, I really do take it for granted. I think I only realized how true this is today, when I came into the mall. I'd rather not talk about what happened, to be honest, as I am working and would rather not break down (again) while I'm manning the store all on my lonesome, but it was nothing major, I promise. I was very upset upon coming into work (at five), however. I left the store at about five-fifteen, a little more upset, and returned at six even more upset. Barb, who was on duty, is the absolute best. (My parents are equally awesome, but they have to be. They're my parents.) She also give great hugs... and she agreed to stay longer than was necessary, as her shift ended at five (when I got here) and she left at six-thirty.

My coworkers are great. The store calms me down. And I get the mall discount.

Speaking of which. The Great Earth store is a vitamin store just down the aisle. They give a mall-employee discount and they sell the most fabulous green tea in existance; I buy a bottle almost every time I come here. The two main guys working there know my face and know that I'm a mall employee, meaning that I no longer need to innocently inquire about the discount when I go in for my hit of tea. The guy manning the counter saw that I was upset, asked if I wanted to talk about it (I felt bad for having kept Barb so long and said no), and told me to come by if I changed my mind and wanted to talk. And then he offered me a job. Seriously. He gave me the owner's card, told me they were hiring, and urged me to call the guy.

I have the card in my bag. My summer class ends in July, and I'm seriously considering it. Yes, it'll take up a lot more time than the work-school combo takes up now, but maybe it would be worth it. He says it paid well and that it's pretty easy (most people know what they want and, if they don't, the owner is a phone call away -- much different from the bookstore, where I tend to make a lot of guesses decisions for people, who typically have no idea what they're looking for). So yes, considering it.

On a completely unrelated but equally fantastic note, Leilla and Abby are here, paying me a visit and slashing the pancake book. ^__^ Hearts on them, as they are making work ever so much more entertaining. Screw the homework I need to do. Friends are better. ^__^

Icon love.

I made an icon to make myself feel better. Strangely, it worked a little bit.
