one Good thing vs. Very Nice things.
Sep. 16th, 2005 02:07 pmThis may surprise the majority of you, but I don't care. Every day I try to do at least one Good thing. Because I am very, very lazy, this one Good thing usually involves holding a door open for someone. Or not yelling at people for being stupid. Or smiling instead of ripping off people's heads. You know, that sort of thing. Today I did my job -- tutoring/editing -- and was told I had done a Very Nice thing. This made me happy, as I was, in fact, paid for doing this Very Nice thing. It also made me wonder.
What other Very Nice things could I do?
As I walked back to the dormroom on my way out of work, I counted no less than seven people talking into their cell phones -- or, at least, holding the device to their ears -- and immediately decided that my next Very Nice thing would be to rip cell phones out of people's hands, force them to hold conversations with the people actually standing around them, and run away to throw the no-longer necessary cell phones into a pit. Then I realized that most people would not realize that I had just done them a favor -- in fact, that I had dont a Very Nice thing for them -- and would simply yell at me. I also realized I was lazy and decided it would be better to stick with just doing my one Good thing a day.
And no, for those of you who are wondering, I do not own a cell phone.
The end.
No, I lied. My throat hurts. Boo.
Okay. The end for real now.
edit:
I lied again. I wrote another part to Little Conversations. I plan to type it up and post it by the end of the night, but we'll see how well that plan works out later.
