:D The Greeks and Romans also thought that a bit of...soldierly love would actually ensure victory in their armies. In fact, the one of the Greek city-states had a whole unit of soliders that was comprised entirely of male lovers. The general idea was that a soldier would not want to bring himself to shame in front of his lover and would therefore always be at his fighting best.

Of course, Alexander the Great whupped their asses, but that's okay because Alexander was pretty himself. So it evens out. Or something.
