So this morning, Phoebe (my boss) called the dorm room in order to ask me if I could possibly work a few more hours this afternoon, since the entire day was pretty much full. Being an absolutely horrible pushover, I agreed to tack two hours onto my usual time and work until four. When I arrived at work, I found that I had only one appointment and several hours of nothing to do. This changed quickly, of course, what with one walk-in and a call-in appointment. All was well and good, and I managed to get my French homework in the time between my first appointment and the walk-in.

[livejournal.com profile] slyfox78, you'll be proud to know that she asked me to work extra hours tomorrow and Wednesday, too, but I refused (mostly because I couldn't, but whatever). Proud! I'm not quite that much of a pushover. Yet. ^_~

While walking back from work, I saw some guy playing with a dog outside the PAC. It was a very cute dog and apparently I wasn't the only person to think so; in the few moments that I watched him, four girls approached him to coo over the dog. This got me thinking and resulted in my thinking up a somewhat-interesting plot by the time I got back to the dorm.

In other words, I have a new NaNoWriMo idea, so I don't have to feel bad about just rehashing an old idea/story. This new bit is still kind of sketchy, but I have a bit more time to think about it. So far I know that there's this guy -- my main character -- who has a thing for this girl (gasp, I know! I'm writing about straight guys!) and really wants to get with her, but is far too chicken to do it. After a few attempts and failures at approaching her, he consults his friend, who tells him to get a dog because "Chicks love dogs". My main character isn't too fond of dogs, but he gets one anyway, only to discover that the girl in question doesn't like dogs. Still determined to win her over, he finds out what she does like (I'm leaning toward tropical fish) and invites her over to look at and discuss said interest. Meaning he has to invest in this interest. It'll be a real web of lies and such and I really don't know what I'll do with it. Honestly, I'm not sure I even want to use it. Thoughts? Suggestions?

If I decide not to use this one, there's still time to figure out another. *shrug*

Doctor Smith returned our Shakespeare midterms today; I didn't do too badly, especially considering the slap-dash job I did in studying for it. I received an 83, which I deem passable despite my own insecurities. Go me. All in all, I have a B in the class, and I think I'm okay with that. I'll still work to improve it (hahaha), but I'll be happy if I can keep the B while still doing the least amount of work necessary to pass and keep my over-achieving tendencies in check.

Speaking of putting less effort into class than I should, I have Poetry tonight. I'm supposed to give a report on some poet, so I threw mine together in about ten minutes last week. I'm not sure what else we're supposed to be doing today, but I hope it isn't much. [livejournal.com profile] mortenavida promised I could molest her later, and I need to make a crack!icon for [livejournal.com profile] tir_synni. Oh, and I have homework, too.

Since I'll be doing icon stuff tonight anyway, does anyone want to make a request? I promise not to muck it all up too badly. ^_~
