Melissa: ...I don't get it. My mind's as far in the gutter as it can go and I'm still not getting it.
Me: it has nothing to do with being in the gutter.
Melissa: huh?
Me: jump... Like jumping off a building?
Melissa: ...what?
Annie: suicide!
Melissa: oooooh...

Melissa: they should just jump.
Me: ...what?
Melissa: if they want to jump off the building, I'd let them.
Annie: but they'd die!
Melissa: so?
Me: if I ever decide to commit suicide by jumping out of a building, please don't volunteer to be the one who talks me down...

(much laughing)

Me: I can just hear it now... *shouting* Go, on just jump! It'll be fun!
Annie: *laughs* I hope there's no one on top of a building right now, listening to you!
Me: true... My voice is loud.
Melissa: and it carried!
Me: *more shouting* JUMP! Go on, do it!

(Dan walks by and I catch sight of the weird look he's giving me)

Me: don't give me that look! *hugs* See, we got to talking about jumping off buildings and Melissa said she'd just let them jump and so I was telling her to never ever try talking someone down and... Yeah.
Dan: a-huh...
Annie: it's true!
Me: sure is! And if I was about to jump off a building, I'd want someone to talk me down--but not her--so I'm giving a demonstration of what not to say!
Dan: I'm guessing it involves yelling "jump and I'll give you five dollars!", right?
Me: *grin* You're so smart!

Have you ever thought about doing Stand-Up?

Stand-up? Na, it wouldn't work out for me. For one thing, I don't have The Voice. All of the good stand-up comics always have a certain way of speaking that just sort of pulls you in no matter what the hell you're saying... And I very much couldn't do that. For another, I'd run out of material. Given that all my "humor" involves other people, I'd have to have lots and lots of people say stupid things (ie: "Nuclear War would be fun!").

And I'm not crazy. I'm quirky.
