Grr. I've never really had any strong feelings about Shakespeare's Tempest in the past. It's not his best work, in my opinion, but I've read worse. Some of it is really good. Some of it is not so good. It's a hard play to stage, but so are some of his other plays. So no big deal. Right? Right.

And then, of course, came Idris.

I have a paper due tomorrow on the play (obviously) -- specifically, Prospero's treatment of Miranda (his daughter and the only female character in the entire play). I have a very bare outline written out, in that I know what my basic paragraph topics are and have assigned some scenes to certain paragraphs for support, but it's still going very slowly. If all goes as planned, my paper body will talk about Miranda's gentle nature, her ignorance and inexperience, the importance of her virginity, and then how Prospero manipulates all of those things to his advantage.

I can do it. I'm just going to want to shoot myself in the head on several occasions for not starting sooner.

As soon as I finish the paragraph about Miranda's virginity, I'm going to bed. Since I'm currently working on her gentle nature -- and have been since I started the paper four hours ago -- this could take a while.
