Ren Faire!

The Renaissance Festival was pretty great. ^_^ Rufus never showed (he was sleeping, and since he sleeps so rarely, we decided to let him stand us up just this once), so Joan, Andy, and I made our way to Annapolis. We started the day off by going to the Globe and hearing the O'Danny Girls sing their oh-so-lovely bawdy tunes, followed immediately afterward by an interesting rendition of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Kat and some of her friends (including her fiance!) met up with us during the play, so afterward we all got some lunch. Then Andy wanted to try his hand at archery, so we did that. Um. Then we did some shopping. Andy tried on a wrap-around tunic and Joan bought herself a whole new outfit. Also, there was honey. Yum.
After the shopping, we got some Italian Ice to share and watched some jousting, then hit up the Jury Rig Stage to see the Chainsaw Comedian (David Van Derveer), who was marvelous. After his act, the ever-popular Hack & Slash took the stage and wowed us all with lots of beer and plenty of swordfighting. (Not my style of swordfighting, clearly, but it was fun to watch nonetheless. ^_~) At this point, it was nearing six o'clock, so we hit up one more stop (Andy wanted a fox tail) and left the Faire. Andy took a nap in the car, and I know Joan rested her eyes for ten or eleven miles, so it was a quiet ride. ^.^
Upon returning home, we all had some foodage (it was near seven at this point) and then Joan and I settled in and finished watching the first season of Avatar. I at least know more or less what's going on now, so that's fun. I still have my problems with the show, but it's pretty good. Especially when I remember that it's intended for kids half my age. ^_~
I've been a good girl and getting work done on the Five Things meme, if not the drabbles. I should have a few to post the next time I update -- which may just be later tonight (read: very early tomorrow morning!).
