FFX12 lovings!

Okay. Final Fantasty 12 (hereafter to be referred to as FF12, because I'm lazy and don't want to type out XII all the time).
When I first heard about the game, I think I squeed myself. I love Final Fantasy games, and I did not play FF11 because, quite frankly, that sort of medium did not appeal to me. I also did not play FFX-2 because I'm really lazy and only just finished FFX last May, and still have yet to finish FFVII. Whatever. There was squeeing. And then! Oh, and then. I heard about the battle system. Revamped, they said. Nothing like the original, they said. Not like FF-standard at all, they said.
They said right. Nonetheless, I played the game, because it is Final Fantasy and I heart Final Fantasy. And it took me a little while, but I quickly got used to the battle system. It's not exactly a new system (although the Gambits threw me for a bit), and it reminds me a lot of the KH and FMA-game systems, not to mention Wild Arms and all those others. And it was so pretty that, well, I could forgive the battle system (which I quickly grew to love, by the way. SO much more fun!). It is now one of my favorite games, up there with Tetris and Guitar Hero and even Final Fantasy VI, which will forever hold the number one slot for me. I play practically every day, as I am a bit of a loser and am oh-so-addicted to this game.
Before I started the game, I promised myself I would not do two things. For one, I would not -- NOT! -- take over two years to play it, as I did with FFX and FFIX. And for another, I would not cheat.
For those who have never watched me play a video game, I play them as hardcore as I can, and I try to do everything there is to be done. Every sidequest. Every mission. Every secret character, item, or piece of equipment. Oftentimes, this involves using a few websites as a crutch, or using my brothers to play the really really really difficult parts (like the Chocobo race in FFX). To give you an idea of how this works for me, here's an example. In FF12, I'm not even halfway through the game and I've accumulated over sixty hours. I've also learned most of the license board.
Right now, I'm in the Stilshrine of Miriam. For those who have played the game, you know that the shrines and temples are all huge puzzles, complete with secret passages, riddles, and way stones (I hate those things). I managed to find my way into the shrine itself -- after about an hour of playing around with characters and equipment and not-killing-things-at-all (that was hard) -- and I thought I was set. Figured all of that out. Now the game is all "have all the statues face the blade!" and I thought I did that, and now I'm in front of the stupid door and it's not moving.
laksdjoaiejkj THERE IS NO BLADE TO FACE WTF.
I don't want anyone to tell me how to do this, or give me any hints or anthing like that. I would, however, like to know that I'm not a complete idiot. Is this difficult to figure out? I've done okay with everything else -- I've managed the sekrit!sidequests and the stupid hunts where you need to get the weather just right and all of that --, but I can't figure out a stupid riddle with stupid statues. Is it hard to figure out, or am I seriously just that dumb?
Am I the only one in that boat?
(Also? Fran. Seriously. She's my new favorite character, even beating out Balthier, Ashe's attempt at a skirt, and Penelo's pointless suspenders -- all of which I consider characters, oh yes. Fraaaan! And poor Vaan. XD Even his trophy gets made fun of.)
