[livejournal.com profile] kloos411 and I went to look at an apartment this afternoon during our lunch break. It got off to a bit of a rocky start; we were going to take the light rail down, but after waiting twenty-some minutes for the thing to show up we decided we'd drive instead. (I've since learned that this delay was heat related.) Whatever. The drive gave us a chance to canvas the neighborhood, which went from good to sketchy to good again. Parking was also relatively easy (Kelsi fed the meter -- thank you, Kelsi!), and we found the apartment with very little trouble.

Chuck, the landlord, met us there and led us up four flights of stairs to the apartment in question. The place itself is pretty nice; the building is over a hundred years old, but there must have been some fairly recent renovations -- it looks great. After looking through the place and asking a menagerie of questions, we left.

Kelsi and I agreed that there were only a few things about the place we didn't like: the heat is building controlled rather than individually controlled (although the kitchen got a great cross breeze), it's four flights up (a pain for moving in, and for guests who, like my mother, have knee problems), and the bedrooms are oddly shaped (one is very nicely sized, and the other is bizarrely small).

On the other hand, it's a nice area, there are lots of stores around (and a library just a street or so away), and if the light rail works it would be a convenient way to get to and from work (although the walk didn't look too bad either).

Long story short, we'll see. We're planning to look at several other places as well, of course, and will have to take everything in stride.

Other than that? Um. Let's see. I'm looking forward to Otakon next week, especially because I'll be seeing Sam, Steve, and Jenny~! Also, I will be meeting [livejournal.com profile] photoash, who has ingratiated herself to me and thus been granted special sleeping privileges. Also, Maki Murakami will be there, and while I'm not certain I actually want to join the throng of screaming fangirl I do think it would be interesting to see. That's something I'm debating, so we'll see how that goes.

I have soup. Yum, soup.

Oh! The office smelled disgusting today. It seems to be better now, although that could be either because (a) I got used to it or (b) whatever was wrong was fixed in my absence. Either way, huzzah.

From what I hear, Murakami is camera shy and doesn't want any pictures or videos taken during the panel. (I'll see what I can do.)

it amazes me that she can draw yaoi for a living and be camera shy.

(I love that icon.)

Pfft. Being camera shy is the cool thing to do, lovely. It's all the rage. Get with it.

tch. she probably just doesn't want the world to see that she's too lazy to wax her eyebrows.
