I'm back from my Great American Solo Road Trip, and I had a great time. [livejournal.com profile] photoash, [livejournal.com profile] mortenavida... Thank you both for your hospitality. It wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without you guys!

Now that I'm back, it's difficult to get into the groove again. Work is going well, though; I buckled down this morning, and my massive email pile-up is considerably smaller five-plus hours later. The rest of my to-do list is not nearly as complete, sadly, and I'll spend the next few days catching up on things I let slide while I was on the SRT. Whatevs; it was worth it.

I stopped by my parents' house yesterday on the way home to (1) pick up my apartment keys and (2) give back their suitcase. They had me peruse through their silver and pick out the pieces I want before they melt the rest down or try selling it (it's been in storage in their basement for years, so I can understand that). I did, so they're setting those bits aside for me. Which is neat. Once I have places to put it all, I'll steal it away. All settled!

Anyway, while at my parents' house, my mother happened to mention that my brother was canceling our cell phone plan. This was news to me, and I was a teensy bit upset that the boy hadn't mentioned this to me even though my mother has known about it for months. Urgh. Long story short, my father let me go after him with my new meat cleaver (knife sets were mixed in with the silver, so I claimed one), he apologized (he'd thought he'd told me already, apparently), and promised to look into making mine a solo plan when he called to cancel, rather than canceling it and leaving me in the lurch. That's a good boy. So, anyway, I'm waiting on Verizon to get in touch with me about that, and that'll be fine. Whatevs. It'll be more expensive than what I was paying for before, but at least I won't be suddenly and inexplicably without a working phone.

Speaking of canceling things, [livejournal.com profile] kloos411 and I are totally going to cancel our cable subscription and going back to network. Our bill is ridiculous, and cutting that out of the equation will make a lot of difference. Besides, we almost never watch television -- this'll work out beautifully.

That done, here's something of a to-do list. I know how much you've all missed those...

[x] call about the garbage disposal
[x] call Comcast
[x] talk to ze boy
[x] call Verizon
[x] buy some groceries like whoa
[x] fire ze missiles
[x] reply to outstanding LJ comments
[x] read read read read
[x] write write write write
[x] drink teeeaaaa
[x] finish ze laundry
[x] water ze plants
[x] unleash the beast
[x] knit knit knit knit
[x] beta beta beta beta
[x] fiddle with the new Dreamweaver
[x] drink more teeeeaaaa

...silliest to-do list I've ever had. Ah, well.

Welcome back! Glad your trip went well - was concerned by the title ("fiery death" and road trips are not a good mix). Glad you are getting your work e-mail under control - mine used to bury me. Good luck with the to do list, especially as I am the cause of part of it!

And to celebrate your return, and Eiri's birthday, I have put up one of my fave userpics.

Haha, yeah. Throughout the trip, I had to email people to reassure them I wasn't injured or dead. My favorite phrase was "I didn't die in a fiery wreck", so... Yes. That's more or less that.

My work email scares me. I just read it and file it away to be forgotten. It's a system I've perfected since July, and it works pretty well, if I do say so myself. :D If it's important, people usually email me about it again. If it's not important, it'll get done when I have the chance to look at those emails. Easy!

It's a lovely userpic, and perfect for Eiri's birthday. He's big on the molestations.

.... This is the most awesome to-do list ever. Also, you have a boy? Since when, m'dear? Or am I just terribly out of the loop (which would not be the least bit surprising)?

By the way, I'm sorry I didn't get to see you while you were in town, I was unfortunately busy the whole time you were here with my car (suddenly severe brake problems, yay!) and working. The only day I could have come I spent the whole time in a waiting room watching terrible TV and reading silly magazines at the car dealership. It was very boring, unfortunately.

Oh, no. In this instance, "ze boy" refers to my little brother. The one I threatened with a meat cleaver. In my case, "ze boy" always refers to a boyfriend (as you thought -- and rightly so!) or my brothers.

No problem. ♥ I plan to head back to Florida in the near-ish future, as I had a great time, and maybe we can make plans to meet then. What happened to your car?

Mom likes me to go to the dealership for oil changes and things of that nature, so I took the car in that Monday since I was overdue. I told her beforehand there was probably going to be something wrong with my brakes since most every time I stopped, I would hear some squeaking. So, I go in for my oil change and explain the same thing to them and ask them to check it over and make sure nothing was wrong. Low and behold I am severely right; my front brakes are pretty much non-existent, my back ones needed cleaning and I needed a brake fluid flush. It still needs more work, I forget what it was called, but it's something that requires it to go in for about 5-6 hours and costs way too much money. So I spent Wednesday getting that done, and I had to work Thursday and Friday.

Ooh, Squee! What all did you do while you were down here?

Car work is always such a pain. I'm glad you got the brakes taken care of before they developed into a major problem, though!

Oh, you know. I hung out. Did some baking, some shopping, some chilling... It was exactly what I needed.
