I was right. I got bruised all over the upper left part of my body. And I've got a really shibby purple spot on my forearm, where the guy hit me once by accident. T_T I'm never going to Slayton House without my protective equipment again!!!
I got back at him tonight, though. His son fences during my class and he heard me complain to Jamie about the bruises (Jamie apparently noticed it last night but neglected to ask if I wanted to borrow some equipment--not that I would have. EW!) and came up to apologize. So I demanded a rematch, since now I wouldn't have to take a step or two back every single time he tried to hit me for fear of severe damage. I was only joking, but he accepted anyway. So Jamie told the rest of the class to stop what they were doing, had Kerrie stop giving a private lesson to someone else, and brought Russ over to help him judge. See, in fencing you have one referee, who has the final call, and four judges, two for each fencer. We stuck with two judges and a ref this time, but we gave both Kerrie and Russ extra weight so that they could out-vote Jamie if need be.
The need didn't arise. I kicked ASS. Within the first two minutes, I'd already scored three touches off this guy and he'd barely gotten close enough to hit my arm--which is off-target area and doesn't count as a touch. And then I stumbled a little in the middle of a cross-advance bilestra and accidentally stabbed him in the knee, which Jamie thought was really funny. He did stop the match after that, though. The guy who bruised me up yesterday thought it was just punishment and said he was lucky I didn't decide to castrate him. o_O That one had never occurred to me...
And then class resumed and I got yelled at for doing a point-in-line beat disengage lunge wrong. -_- My bad!
My fencing partner tonight was kind of nervous because she'd never ever fenced with a leftie before. *rolls eyes* It's really not that different. We just beat differently and you have to defend yourself by doing the exact opposite of what you'd normally do is all. :P
Sometimes being left-handed is a gift from the gods, I swear... ^_^
