So. Yes. Work.

I'm scheduled to work today from ten to one, which was fantastic because it means I would get to talk to [livejournal.com profile] tir_synni for a while (and distract her from her essay-writing fervor). My first appointment was a no-show, which was delicious, and I took a walk-in about half-past ten. Said walk-in was a bit annoying; he spoke in whispers, was super-timid, and didn't quite come in prepared. Blah. Nonetheless, his paper wasn't bad and he was a good student to work with -- I've had worse.

Then, as I was writing up my report, all Hell broke loose.

Apparently one of the Orientation advisors had made going to the Writing Center a requirement for their upcoming paper, which was due today, and half the class decided to put the paper off and come to the Center at the very last minute. I looked up from my report and there were people clustered at the desk asking for appointments between then and two o'clock, with more people coming in through the door and two more at the computers with reservations.

Eek.

Unfortunately for these people, this is the first day this semester where every tutor has had every spot full up, so there were no available spots. I promised to meet with as many as I could; my second appointment of the day only lasted half an hour or so and I dealt with three students between 11:30 and 12:00. Squee. Unfortunately for me, I agreed to stick around until two because of the rush, thinking my two scheduled appointments would be longer. As it turned out, a lot of the students either left in a huff or scheduled their appointments between one and two. So I'll be here until two-thirty-ish, even though my third scheduled appointment no-showed, because the Orie people didn't leave phone numbers behind with their names. *cringe*

Half an hour of idleness and then an hour and a half of extra-hours for me. At least my time-sheet will be gloriously and wondrously full, meaning that when I do finally get paid (it takes six to seven weeks for Direct Deposit to start working) I'll have a lot of sushi/manga money.

Hopefully.

Mmm. Manga is the best diet program ever -- you get so caught up in buying and reading it that you forget to buy and eat food! So wonderful. ^__^

Manga works really well for that. So does Photoshop. I think I've went twelve hours on it and not ate or anything. I was in the ZONE!!!

Mmmhm. Photoshop is teh wonderful. I'm not very good at it, though, because I can only make craptastic icons and banners. *cringe*

Also: Tricia says she wants DVD copier software. (This is what I get for commenting to things at work -- Tricia reads over my shoulder. ^_~)
