We're supposed to get a crapload of snow today and tomorrow, and pretty much everybody in the general area is freaking out over it. I remain skeptical. The upside is that it means I'm leaving work early. On the other hand, I'm not looking forward to potentially having to dig out my car or anything. The flute choir's Saturday gig was canceled, too, so I now have a completely free Saturday. Which I'm okay with.

Still not sure about Sunday.

I somehow wandered back onto eBay this week, and have bought three things since Monday, including a Wii (hello, my return to not-so-casual gaming!), which I won yesterday. No shipping information for that, so I am pouting and complaining that I won't have it before this SUPER HUGE OMG SNOWSTORM everyone is positive we're getting, and I'm sure driving everyone I know crazy in the process. Not that I need anything else to distract me. Ohnoes.

Speaking of distractions, my attempts at daily to-do lists continue to fail. Thus, I'm going back to my LJ weekend to-do list, so you guys can keep me honest. Or at least try to keep me honest. (Good luck!)

DO THIS STUFF!

[x] balance your checkbooks, girlie.
[x] oh, and it's Friday. Do some work.
[x] stop checking eBay for updated shipping information.
[x] seriously, they'll send you an email.
[x] stop it, you neurotic freak.
[x] is the hardware store still open? Go check.
[x] if it is, buy a damn dimmer switch!
[x] buy some chapstick. This week has been a sad set of circumstances for your lips.
[x] while we're there, get some tape. We ran out yesterday.
[x] now that we have fresh tape, get to work on those tearsheets!
[x] ah, nothing like ripping books apart to relax you.
[x] now put the tearsheets away. Don't want the cats eating them after we worked so hard!
[x] read a little. You're such an ignoramus.
[x] and, y'know what? You say you want to be a writer, but you don't write!
[x] write something, stupid.
[x] now, was that so hard?
[x] didn't think so. Now, edit some of Aristeia. You're slacking off.
[x] ...stop looking at eBay!!
[x] and, since we're editing, finish up a beta.
[x] and another one.
[x] aaaaaand that other one.
[x] good girl. Now send them away. Away, away!
[x] is it Saturday yet? Did it snow?
[x] if it did, then go dig out your car. Sigh.
[x] no, really. Get it over with.
[x] and clear off the front steps and your sidewalk.
[x] oh, the joys of home ownership!
[x] brrrr. Get warm. Make some tea.
[x] ah, that was nice. Warm warm.
[x] since we're warding off the cold, let's do some knitting. Seriously, it helps.
[x] the kittens get snipped on Tuesday. Prep some stuff.
[x] are you meeting B&B for lunch Sunday? You should check on that.
[x] why are you checking eBay? Stop that!
[x] okay, we knit, we wrote, we read...
[x] housework time! Sweep the floors.
[x] and give them a good mopping, too. That never hurts.
[x] do some laundry. You'll thank me later.
[x] clean the bathrooms. It's easy. Don't put it off.
[x] lint brush the chairs. Cat fur somehow keeps getting on them.
[x] go figure. It's not like cats shed or anything.
[x] did you buy that dimmer switch?
[-] if so, hit some switches and install that thing!
[x] and since we're on the subject, replace those dead lightbulbs.
[x] that's better.
[x] whelp, that's enough work for one day. Watch some TV.
[x] and JC let you borrow that movie. You should watch it.
[x] ah, isn't that nice? It is.
[x] let's kick some video game ass. The Wii may still be MIA, but the PS2 loves you!
[x] ASSKICK.
[x] it's probably not even Saturday anymore. Are you meeting B&B for lunch?
[-] are you? Well, if so, you should get to that!
[-] now, aren't you glad you dug out your car before this?
[-] I knew you would be.
[-] have a good time~
[-] aaaaand come home. There's no flute choir tonight, but are you ice skating?
[-] I guess that depends on when you get back from lunch.
[-] get in touch with [livejournal.com profile] thstlenshmrock and find out.
[-] if yes, go. If not, do more stuff. Like... I don't know. Stuff.
[-] if you are ice skating, drive safe! There are maniacs out there.

[x] watch the Superbowl, baby! Go Colts!
[x] and tomorrow is Monday, so we should probably cook something so we'll have lunch.
[x] go on, do it. It's better in the long run and you know it.
[x] and you've been so good. Go ahead. Check eBay.
[x] done? Okay, that's very nice. Relax a bit.
[x] and that's it, really. Fire ze missiles.

Congratulations on winning the wii! I do hope you get it before all the snow (I also remain slightly skeptical).

May I ask what tearsheets are?

Rather than working from computer files when we're publishing a new edition of a book, some authors prefer to actually work in hardcopy. Basically I take two copies of the book, rip them apart page by page, and tape or paste the pages to white paper. Then the author makes all their corrections or changes to the page itself, sends the packet back to us, and we make the electronic changes in the computer file. Making the tearsheets takes more time than just sending a disc, but it's kind of cathartic and I can do it while watching TV, so I don't mind. It's super easy.

Haha... It's mostly the older authors who prefer these over the computer files. <3 No big surprise there.

Haha, yeah, I can see that as being perfectly understandable...XD.

I chortled at the remark about the joys of homeownership. When we bought our first house, we totally didn't think of snow. We had sidewalks on three sides (we were at the end of two streets which intersected at a point) and a driveway and walkway on the fourth side. Boy, did we do a lot of shoveling and snowthrowing.

(Nothing is as much fun as putting an 18 lb. long-legged cat on crusted over snow and seeing the look on his face when he falls through and the snow comes above his belly.)
